ANGHIARI

Anghiari is a small village immersed in the splendid Tuscan countryside a few kilometers from Arezzo, in the Tuscan Valtiberina. In the plain just below the village, the famous Battle of Anghiari took place on 29 June 1440, in which the Florentine troops defeated the Milanese ones, thus allowing Florence to take over the government of the city. The famous fresco of theBattle of Anghiari by Leonardo da Vinci, sadly lost, was commissioned to honor this historic victory.

Anghiari is also counted among theMost beautiful villages in ItalyAndOrange Flag of the Italian Touring Club, develops along the steep and characteristic "wrinkle" that crosses it making it unique.
